Schools in Metro Honolulu
There are dozens of private schools for all ages in the metropolitan Honolulu area. Kids who live here are part of the Farrington Complex, the Kaiser Complex or the Kalani Complex of the Hawaii Public Schools.
Honolulu Metro Shopping and Dining
From Joint Base Pearl Harbor and Hickam Airfield to Fort Shafter, Manoa and Hawai’i Kai, the Honolulu metro area is packed with fantastic shopping experiences; there are more restaurants than you can count, and there’s something for every palate here.

We also have the Kahala Mall Center, and for those who want to venture out a bit farther, there’s the mall in nearby Pearl City.
Roy’s, Alan Wong’s Restaurant and Duke’s Waikiki are among the best restaurants in the area, but there are many others to choose from as well. Teddy’s Bigger Burgers is a local favorite, as are our several Loco Moco restaurants. You’ll also find many chain restaurants in the Honolulu metro area, including Chili’s, Ruby Tuesday’s, and TGI Friday’s. Looking for sushi? There’s plenty in this area. You’ll also find traditional Polynesian cuisine, Mexican food and all kinds of international flavors in the metropolitan Honolulu area.
Entertainment in Metro Honolulu
The Honolulu metropolitan area is packed with movie theaters, performing arts theatres, and concert venues. There’s always something going on at Blaisdell Center and at the Waikiki Shell, and we have a spectacular zoo, a modest-sized aquarium and many museums packed with history. The ‘Iolani Palace and several statues to King Kamehameha and others who were essential in Hawai’i’s development are located all over the metro area.
Metro Honolulu Parks and Recreation
The state of Hawaii operates several wonderful parks in the metropolitan Honolulu area. Diamond Head and Koko Head are the most notable state parks, with thousands of people visiting these volcanic creations every year. However, there are many city parks located in the metropolitan Honolulu area, including those with playgrounds, public pools and many more amenities. Hiking and biking are very popular pastimes with residents, and there’s always a great place to go if you’d like to get some fresh air and enjoy our beautiful year-round weather.
